BeoirFest: The first online craft beer festival in Ireland

On June 28, from 8 pm to 0 am, BeoirFest takes place, Ireland’s first fully online craft beer festival.

The event will feature some of the most renowned micro-breweries in the country. Among them is Hopfully Brewery, created by Brazilians Vilson de Mello Junior and Cristiano Gasparoti. The brewery is known for using very innovative ingredients, such as coconut, white chocolate and jiquitaia pepper (produced by the Baniwa tribe in the Amazon).

The interaction will take place through an online platform, where each brewery will have its own space and will be able to chat with visitors by video or text. Those interested can buy some of the beers in advance to participate in the tasting sessions, where the drinks will be presented and discussed with their creators. Participating beers can be purchased directly from the breweries, or through TheBeerClub.ie.

During the event there will also be games, comedy sessions and a raffle for 2 nights at the West Kerry Brewery, on the Dingle Peninsula. Tickets cost only € 1 and can be purchased through this website.

You don’t need to be an expert to participate, as the event will be aimed at casual consumers – especially those who like to drink quality beer and who want to learn more about the different types of drink.

The craft beer market has been growing a lot in recent years in Ireland. According to Food for Thought, consumption increased 12.7% in 2017, and already corresponds to about 3% of all beer sales in the country. There are currently around 125 microbreweries in Ireland.
