Residents sharing accommodation may isolate themselves in government quarantine centers

Since the beginning of the pandemic, people with symptoms of Covid-19 should remain in isolation at home until the results of the tests. Many foreigners, however, share accommodation with others, making isolation difficult or even impossible, increasing the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

With this in mind, the Irish government has announced that people with symptoms of the disease who live with others will be able to take advantage of the isolation centers run by the HSE. One of them is in Citywest, on the outskirts of Dublin, and has vacancies available.

To be entitled to quarantine at the site, a person must be referred through a doctor, hospital, or contact tracing teams, who monitor individuals who are at risk of spreading and contracting the virus.

Patients will have access to a team of nurses and doctors, who will monitor the symptoms and apply the necessary treatments. All persons must remain in their rooms, and will be entitled to TV, WiFi, telephone, food and exits at specified intervals. Visitors will not be allowed.

If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 – such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell and taste – you should contact a doctor (GP), who will do the evaluation over the phone and give instructions to do a test if necessary. Both consultation and testing are free.
