Carnival has arrived, and even far from Brazil, it is possible to enjoy the revelry in Ireland. We have selected some of the best events for those who want to fall in samba and kill the longing for Carnival and Brazilian music in Dublin.
Dicey’s Garden – There will be more than 12 hours of partying at Dicey’s Carnival, one of the most famous ballads among Brazilians. The event takes place on Sunday, the 23rd, starting at 1pm. There are three tracks, each playing a different type of music. On the first floor, samba, pagode and marchinhas; in the second, electronic; and in the third, funk and axé. Among the attractions, there are several Brazilian bands and DJs, as well as competitions to choose the queen of Carnival, rei momo and best block. Most drinks will be sold for € 2.50 – pints, bottles, shots and caipirinhas. Tickets cost from € 15 (track, first lot) to € 30 (box, second lot) and can be purchased on this website.
Soundmate31 – Party for lovers of electronic music, which takes place on the night of Friday, February 21, at The Grand Social, home of events in North Dublin. The event starts at 20:30 and has 8 DJs in the line-up. Fantasies are released. Tickets cost € 10 and can be purchased through this website.
Wigwam – The place has a special Carnival program that lasts all weekend. On Friday, there is a tribute to Tim Maia and Jorge Ben. On Saturday and Sunday, the house offers feijoada from noon, as well as caipirinha and a lot of Brazilian music. Admission is free, but it is advisable to reserve a table through the website.
Tramline – The Carnival weekend at Tramline will have presentations of samba, funk, batucada dancing and a “special Brazilian pizza” on Friday, the 21st. Drinks are affordable, with a € 2 Budweiser promotion and pints Fosters at € 3. Admission is free, but it is necessary to obtain a ticket through this website.
AMBI Carnival – The Carnival party of AMBI – Association of Brazilian Families in Ireland, takes place on Saturday, the 29th, and will have activities for the whole family, including awards for the best costume, art workshop, face painting, photo kiosk and lots of Brazilian food. The event takes place in a community hall, St. Kevin’s Community Hall. Tickets cost € 5 for adults and € 7 for children and can be purchased on this website. Children under 1 year old do not pay admission.
