The nights at Dublin Zoo have come alive once again with Wild Lights, the beloved winter spectacle that transforms the Phoenix Park landmark into a glowing wonderland of colour, art and imagination. This year’s edition promises an even grander experience, blending dazzling lantern displays with an educational message about the natural world.
This year’s theme, dubbed “The Wild Kaleidoscope”, divides the experience into 13 distinct zones of colour and light, each spotlighting how animals use colour for survival, attraction or camouflage.
New additions include a Winter Glow Village food and beverage zone — serving mulled wine, waffles, crêpes and other seasonal treats — and, from 22 November to 22 December, a special Santa’s Grotto bundle for visitors.

Visitor experience & accessibility
While the lanterns and light displays are the main attraction, visitors are informed that most live animals will be indoors during the evening event and may not be visible. The route is wheelchair and buggy accessible, and for the first time an evening sensory-friendly session is being offered on 1 December with reduced noise and softer lighting.
Visitors are advised to dress warmly and wear suitable outdoor footwear, as the event takes place on the zoo’s outdoor pathways.
Booking and ticketing
Tickets must be booked online in advance. The event does not allow access via standard daytime entry tickets to the zoo, and pets, scooters and bicycles are prohibited.
Carers accompanying a guest with additional needs can avail of a discounted rate, and infants under one year may be admitted free (with a free booking).
Why it matters
As well as offering a festive outing, the event emphasises the work of Dublin Zoo in wildlife conservation and education. The colour-theme aims to encourage reflection on how animals use colour in nature for survival, which aligns with the zoo’s broader educational mission.Dublin Zoo+1
