What if I want to go on stage? Are they open mic, can I perform?

Many of the events listed above are open mic, and love to hear from those new to the comedy world. Getting an opener or early spot on these bills usually requires you to have some experience (often gained at the pure open mic nights like the Comedy Cellar or Spoonful). Get in touch with them for more information, while making the most of the tips below:

  • Show up early: Even if you’re not booked, many open mics let you fill in last-minute dropouts.
  • Network after shows: Introduce yourself to comics and MCs—Dublin’s scene is small and friendly, and one chat often leads to a future booking.
Follow clubs on social media: That’s where open slots are announced first.
  • Network respectfully: Talk to other comics and promoters after shows, not during or before. Show you’re serious and committed.
  • Build a reel: Record your best 5-minute set (phone video is fine) to show promoters.
  • Contact promoters directly: Once you have some experience (e.g., 5-10 decent open mic spots), politely message promoters like Craic Den, Comedy Crunch, or specific venue bookers via social media or email (if they list one) with your request and a link to your video reel. Be concise and professional.

In addition, the following are details about open mic nights:

  1. The Comedy Cellar @ International Bar | Tuesdays, 8:30 PM
How to perform: Arrive by 7:30 PM to sign up
    More details (Comedy page)
  2. Spoonful of Comedy @ Workman’s Club |  Mondays
How to perform: Message Craic Den in advance
    More details (Promoter’s site)
  3. Ha’penny Laughs Open Spot | Thursdays
How to perform: Contact host via FB or arrive early
