Taylor Swift recently fulfilled a long-held dream by visiting Achill Island in Mayo. The world-renowned artist fell in love with the island after watching the Oscar-nominated film, The Banshees of Inisherin, which featured stunning locations on Achill. Following her successful Dublin concerts, she made a private trip to explore these spots, including Cloughmore, where the fictional JJ Devine’s Pub was set.
Swift, who has a keen interest in filmmaking, was impressed by the pub when she met the film’s director, Martin McDonagh, two years ago. During her low-profile visit, she also admired Slievemore, Dugort, Dooagh, and Keem Bay.
A local who met her briefly noted, “She was being driven around and did not want any fuss made whatsoever. She was taking time out from her hectic schedule to see if Achill was as stunning as portrayed in the film. She said how beautiful a place it was to live and came across as a really warm and lovely person.”
Swift’s visit highlighted her love for beautiful and cinematic locations, making her Achill Island trip a memorable experience for both her and the locals she encountered.
