Outrageous Hotel Rates in Dublin for St. Patrick’s Day

hotel ireland, overcharging, ireland prices, expensive hotels ireland

Dublin, the lively Irish capital, is experiencing a shocking surge in hotel prices this St. Patrick’s Day. The city, renowned for its vibrant festivities and warm hospitality, is facing an unprecedented situation as hotel rates reach astronomical levels, leaving both locals and tourists in disbelief.

With demand for accommodation soaring ahead of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, hoteliers have seized the opportunity to capitalize on the frenzy, resulting in eye-watering rates that defy logic. Examples include hostels charging over €196 per night for a shared room, and the cheapest hotel option available on Booking.com coming out at €275.

While it’s not unusual for hotels in Ireland to hike up their prices based on high demand, there have been calls now for deeper regulation, such is the extent of the problem. Adding to the issue is that many hotels in Ireland now exclusively contracted to the government to house asylum seekers and refugees, meaning less accommodation options. With Ireland suffering from a housing crisis there may be further tailwinds ahead, with an expected crackdown on short term letting platforms such as AirBnb.

Getting tickets for the grand parade in Dublin for St. Patricks day can also add to ones budget for a visit to Ireland during this time, with tickets in short supply, and costing anywhere from €100 for a guaranteed seat in the stands.

Despite the high price of accommodation, hopefully those who paid out their hard earned money will enjoy the festivities.
